Joseph Frank Baltus, 82, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, on November 3, 2012. He was born on May 9, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Myrtle (Wilson) and Pieter Josef Baltus. He was a graduate of Sandcreek High School in 1948. Joe was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. On December 8, 1957, he married Janet Lou Goodpaster. Joseph was an electrician, he worked for Allison Gas Turbin for 20 years, Cummins for 10 years, and Chrysler for 10 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greensburg.
He is survived by: Wife- Janet Lou Baltus, Children- Pamela Sue Loyd, Fredrick Josef Baltus, Jim Baltus, Brother- William Roger Baltus, Grandchildren- Michelle Davis, Melissa (Michael) Ferrara, Joe (Kristol) Loyd, Carrie Baltus, Adam Baltus, and Patrick (Emily) Baltus. 11 great grandchildren: Bryna, Darian, Kayla, Micha, Rose, Halen, Tyler, Hannah, Malachi, Cheyenne, and Laykin. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother- Bertram Baltus.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland Howe Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Funeral Home. Rev. David Thompson and Connie Barr will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to Hospice of South-Central Indiana.
