Dorothy Brumm was the second child and second daughter born to Oliver "Clayton" and Bertha Leota (Lett) Brumm. She had an older sister, Helen, and five younger siblings: brothers, William Lett "Bill," Boyd Wendell, and Dale Hubert Brumm; sisters, Lorma Leota (Brumm) Allen and Kathleen Lucille (Brumm) Erickson. Dorothy married Carl Harold "Harry" Herman (1917-1947) and had two children, Susan and Bob. Harry died in 1947 in a firefighting accident in Burlington, Iowa, and she remarried to Paul Henry Stodt in 1950.

Dorothy Virginia Stodt, 81, of Marion, formerly of West Burlington, died at 11:54 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Born March 23, 1917, in Erie, Illinois, she was the daughter of Oliver Clayton and Bertha Leota Lett Brumm. She married Harold C. Herman. He died in 1947. She then married Paul H. Stodt on April 14, 1950, in Burlington. He died January 8, 1987.

Mrs. Stodt was a graduate of Mediapolis High School. She was a bookkeeper for many years at IRC and Younkers in West Burlington.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in West Burlington.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan Leland of Marion; one son, Robert Herman of Juneau, Alaska; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Brumm of Sioux City; and one sister, Lorma Allen of Davenport.

Besides both husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.

The funeral for Mrs. Stodt will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with the Reverend Mark Schowalter officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
