The following year, 1907, Julia died, and her sister, Antonia, came from Bohemia to care for the children and ended up marrying James, Sr.
The family lived in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois, and it was in Illinois that James, Jr. became sick with tuberculosis. He died October 25, 1918 at the age of 13. He is buried in St. Gabriel Cemetery in Oak Forest, Illinois.
Two years later, the elder James Svestka and Antonia had another son whom they named James.
