LIFELONG RESIDENT SUCCUMBS
Winnie Helen Campbell, lifelong resident of Grand Island, 923 West Ninth, died Thursday evening at her home following a lingering illness.
Funeral arrangements are pending notification of relatives. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs Campbell was one of eight children born to the late Thomas and Winnie Dillon, early settlers in this area.
Her father was a long-time firechief and was mayor of Grand Island, and was very active in affairs of the community.
She was born Jan. 5, 1898, in Grand Island and resided here until the time of her death. She attended the Grand Island schools and was married to Clarence Campbell on Dec. 14, 1923, in Council Bluffs, IA
She was a member of the St. Paul's English Luther Church, the Eagles Auxiliary, the Army Mothers and the VFW Ladybugs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one brother and one sister.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Mrs Charles McKinney, Mrs Chester Smith, Mrs Eugene Knuth and Phyllis Campbell, all of Grand Island; three sons, Clarence Jr., North Platte; Conrad, Council Bluffs, IA and Paul, Grand Island; three sisters, Mrs Rita Harris, Stockton, CA, Mrs L. L. Olds, Santa Suzana, CA and Mrs Thomas Cotton, Mc Cook; two brothers, Conrad Dillon, Yucaipa, CA and Harold Dillon, Omaha.
