Clarence Campbell
Clarence Campbell of 923 W. Ninth St., died Saturday at a Grand Island hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 pm at St. Pauls Luthern Church with the Rev. James Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 9 pm at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Luthern Church.
Mr. Campbell was born Dec 9, 1892 at Aurora to Lyman and Lottie Hahn Campbell. He moved with his parents to Grand Island where he received his education. He began working for the Railway Express Agency of Grand Island. He then entered the armed services, serving in World War I in France, receiving his discharge in 1917. He returned to Grand Island and again worked for the Railway Express Agency and continued working there for 46 years. He retired in April 1958.
He married Winnie Dillion on Dec. 14, 1922, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple lived in Grand Island all their married life. Mrs Campbell died on Aug 11, 1960.
He ws a member of St. Pauls Luthern Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence of North Platte, Conrad of Omaha and Paul of Council Bluffs; four daughters, Mrs Charles (Shirley) McKinney, Mrs Chester (Joan) Smith, Mrs Eugene (Carol) Knuth and Phyllis Campbell, all of Grand Island; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Irma Riggs of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
