Joan Nadine Smith, 82, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Village in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park at Grand Island. The Rev. Edgar Schambach will be officiating. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Joan was born on Dec. 25, 1934, in Grand Island to Clarence and Winnie (Dillon) Campbell. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1952. She was united in marriage to Chester Smith on Jan. 5, 1958, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, George and Pam Smith and Greg and Brenda Smith, all of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Jerome Rinkol of Grand Island; grandchildren and their spouses, Danielle and Josh Lemburg, Matthew and Stephanie Smith, Amber Nolan, Tyler, Kristan, and Brooke Rinkol; a sister, Shirley McKinney of Grand Island; and two sisters-in-law, Virginia Link of Seward and Joyce Routson of Murrietta, Calif.
Joan worked for F.W. Woolworths and Leon Plastics. She was a lifetime member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, where she did volunteer work. She enjoyed being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, in 1998; her parents; brothers, Clarence, Conrad, Thomas and Paul Campbell; and sisters, Phyllis Campbell and Carol Knuth.
