Mr. Archie Louis Totman, son of Clara and Frank Totman, was born in Storm Lake, Iowa on October 5, 1880. He spent his childhood and youth in Buena Vista County, Iowa. He was baptized in the faith of the Baptist Church in his early childhood. He was united in marriage to Miss Anna Mary Betz at the Methodist Parsonage in Rembrandt, Iowa on October 5, 1903. (Note they were married on Archie's birthday) To this union 5 daughters and 3 sons were born.

After their marriage they made their home in Storm Lake, Iowa community until 1925. Then they moved to a farm near Bernadotte, MN (now a Lafayette, MN address), where they lived for two years. From there they moved to Blue Earth, MN where they lived about one year. From Blue Earth they moved back to Winthrop, MN community where they lived on and rented different farms until 1948, when their home was established in the town of Winthrop, MN. During his early manhood, he was very seriously injured, operating a piece of farm machinery. From his injury he never fully recovered.

He passed away on Friday evening Sept 12, 1952, after a week's illness. He reached the age of 71 years, 11 months and 7 days. He succumbed to pneumonia. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Totman of Winthrop, MN, three sons, Ray of Rembrandt, Iowa and Harold and Glenn of Winthrop, MN and his four daughters – Helen, Mrs. Arthur Halverson of Storm Lake, Iowa, Mabel, Mrs. Alfred Bunker of Everly, Iowa, Esther, Mrs. Vern Fredin of Cosmos, MN and Lucille, Mrs. Myron Berg of Winthrop, MN. There are also 16 grand children and 1 great-grand child who survive, as well as three brothers, Fred and Elmer Totman of Winthrop MN, and William Totman of Marshalltown, Iowa, one sister , Mrs. Cora Walrod of Madelia, MN and many nieces and nephews. One daughter, Ms Iva Lenhart of Storm Lake, Iowa and two sisters and his parents preceded him in death.

Mr Totman was an honest and industrious man, a loving husband and devoted father. Our sympathy is extended to all those who are left to mourn his passing. Funeral services were conducted at the Congregational Church with the Methodist Pastor, the Rev. George E. Hamilton, in charge of the service. Pallbearers were Messrs. Ray Saxton, Fred Burkheimer, Leonard Boelke, Reuben Staplekamp, Herman Rosnau, and Ernest Soderberg. Burial was made in the Winthrop cemetery.
