Gilbert E. Chronister, 64, of Biglerville, entered Heavenly slumber on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at the Gettysburg Hospital.

I worked with Gil at PENNDOT and when I was a kid at home my parents owned a gas station & he drove the tanker that bought the gas to our station at that time.

Gil was a well liked gentle speaking man & will be truly missed.

He was born Oct. 29, 1942 in Gardners the son of the late Charles and Florence (Bly) Chronister. He was a 25-year employee of PennDot before retiring where he served as Foreman. Gil retired after he started having serious liver problems and recovered from those problems without the transplant they said he would need. Gil passed away from a Heart Attack. He knew he had blockage that they were treating with medications. All the Doctors said they would not operate except for a heart transplant because of the amount of blockage he had. After retirement, he was a real estate investor in Adams County. He is survived by his wife, Betty E. (Sillik) Chronister to whom he was married for 44 years; two daughters,Vicki L. (Chronister) Morehead of Lexington Park, Md. and Brenda E. (Chronister) Willman of Orrtanna; one son, Dennis M. Chronister of York; one sister, Audrey Maust of Aspers; six grandchildren, Amanda and William Morehead, Cpl. Andrew Willman and Adam Willman, Lauren and Erin Chronister. He was predeceased by one granddaughter, Carrie Willman; and one brother, Charles Eugene Chronister.

Arrangements are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007. Funeral services will be at Dugan Funeral Home, Inc at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, with Rev. Conrad Reichert and Wilson Arentz officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery.
