Katherine (Schoenberg) Athmann - Caspers
Katherine "Katie" Schoenberg was born July 31, 1900 in Spring Hill, Stearns County, Minnesota. Katie was the youngest of 9 children of Martin and Katherine (Gerads) Schoenberg. All the Schoenberg children were born on the family farm in Section 9 of Spring Hill Township, approximately 1 mile north of the village of Spring Hill.
On October 26, 1920, at the age of 20, Katie married Hubert Athmann at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill, Minn. Katie and Hubert were married 18 years when Hubert Athmann died unexpectedly from heart ailment on October 22, 1938, age of 42 years.
Katie was a widow for 14 years when she married Nick Caspers on June 28, 1952 in St. Cloud, Minn. The couple resided in Spring Hill, Minn. Nick and Katie were married 26 years when he died on June 13, 1978.
Hubert and Katie Athmann had 10 children, of which 3 died before they were 1 year old (links below). The 7 children that grew to adulthood include:

- LaVera Schramel
- Ann Loehr
- Eldred Athmann
- John Athmann
- Norman Athmann
- Vernon Athmann

Katie Athmann - Caspers was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents, Martin (1923) and Katherine (1936)Schoenberg, and her 8 siblings, Charles "Carl" Schoenberg(1971), Anna Welle (1944), Apollonia Welle (1976), Joe Schoenberg (1969), Willie Schoenberg (1937) Mary Braun (1963), Henry Schoenberg (1917), Minnie Ellering (1984) and 3 infant Athmann sons: Leander (1927), Anthony (1929) and Joseph (1932) Athmann.
Katie is buried next to her husband, Hubert Athmann, and her brothers (Willie, Joe & Charles) are buried in the next row to Katie.
