Mr. Arie Bomgaars passed away early Monday morning in Sioux Center, Iowa at the age of eighty-eight years.

He was born on March 1, 1907 at Middleburg, to William and Jennie (Vander Wilt) Bomgaars. He attended the Holland Township country school.

He married Winifred Top at Newkirk on January 21, 1932.

In 1925 he became a partner with his father in operating the Newkirk General Store. In 1954 he and Winifred opened the Siouxland Motel in Sioux Center and later managed motels in Fremont, Nebraska and Cherokee, Iowa. In 1978 they moved back to Sioux Center, IA.

Arie was currently a member of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center and had previously served as a deacon in the Newkirk Reformed Church.

The survivors include his wife, Winifred; one son, Galen Dean and his wife, Sandra, of Denver, Colorado; two daughters: Werna Jean and her husband, Pete Ver Mulm, of Sioux Center, Iowa and Thelma Kay and her husband, Ron Nelson, of Tacoma, Washington. He is also survived by six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Sophia, Mrs. Tony Slothouber, of Boyden, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Stella, Mrs. Tony Bomgaars, of Orange City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Tony Bomgaars; and two sisters, Ada De Koster and Kathryn Vande Hoef.
