Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 27, at 1:30 p.m., at the First Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Steven Vander Molen officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
Anthony was born August 16,1904, at Middleburg, the son of William and Jennie (Vander Wilt) Bomgaars. He was raised at Middleburg. On December 15, 1927, he married Stella De Boer, at Orange City. They farmed at Alton until 1955, when they moved to Orange City. "Tony" was then employed by the City of Orange City for several years before retiring. In April of 1992, Mr. Bomgaars became ill, and in 1993, he became a resident of the Long Term Care Facility at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Alfred and Delores and Alvin and Arlene, all of Orange City; daughter and her husband, Audrey and the Rev. Donald Den Hartog, of Lombard, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Hermina Bomgaars, of Sioux City; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother, Arie, of Sioux Center; and a sister, Sophie Slothouber, of Boyden.
He was preceded in death by his son, William; a brother, William; and two sisters, Kathryn Vande Hoef and Ada De Roster.
