Albert Glenn Monie, age 88, entered heaven on January 1, 2016 in his home in Coeur d Alene, Idaho. He was born March 13, 1927 to his parents Arthur and Carrie (Rauls) Monie on the Monie Homestead in Marquand, Missouri.
Glenn grew up in Marquand, Missouri and worked on the family farm until 1945, when he enlisted in the Navy. After World War II he met Evelyn Hansen, they married February 4, 1949. After many moves and jobs they settled in Whittier, California where Glenn worked for Norris Industries for greater than 30 years.
After Glenn raised 5 children, mentored numerous grandchildren and worked 7 days a week, Glenn retired to a life of travel and fishing. They joined an RV Caravan to Alaska in 1989 and toured all 49 states before settling down in Coeur d Alene, Idaho in 1992. At this stage of life he played with his 6 youngest grandchildren, enjoyed his 1 acre garden, fished and volunteered at Holy Family Catholic School. Later in life he joined the Welcomers and enjoyed friendships as well as pinochle. He celebrated grandchildren's weddings, graduations and awards.
Glenn taught us all with peaceful tolerance. He was the patriarch of a strong Family.
He is survived by his Wife Evelyn, his children David (Anne), Mary, Joe (Cathy), Tom (Diana) and Kathy (Joe), 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren 1 great great grandchild, his sisters Anne Combs, Rosida Mouser and Catherine Kaehr, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Russell and Edward Monie, Grandson Jacob Traw and Great Great Granddaughter Chloe Jackson.
His memory and love will remain with us all.
Services will be held at St. Pius X Parish January 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers please donate to Holy Family Catholic School or Hospice of North Idaho.
