A funeral service for Lois Cheshire Akerson of Junction City, a granddaughter of an Oregon pioneer family, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Methodist Church in Junction City.
Mrs. Akerson died Friday at age 58.
She was born April 4, 1910, in Cheshire, a community named for her grandparents, James and Susan Cheshire. Natives of Tennessee, the elder Cheshires joined a wagon train at St. Joseph, Mo., coming to Oregon in 1852.
A member of the First Methodist Church in Junction City, Mrs. Akerson was married Nov. 30, 1933, at Cheshire to John Akerson, who survives. She is also survived by a son of Salem; a daughter of Portland; six brothers, Lynn, Dale and Neil of Cheshirelaire of Des Moines, Iowa, Robert of Jasper and Leslie of Crow.
