The Progress, Clearfield, Pa., Thursday, April 25, 1991 WEST DECATUR - John E. Smeal, 58, of Spring Valley, West Decatur R.D. 1, died Wednesday, April 24, 1991, in the Clearfield Hospital. He was born in Woodland on June 10, 1932, a son of Howard and Bessie (Green) Smeal. He was formerly employed by Lady Jane Collieries and Glen Irvin Corp., both of Penfield. He was of the Protestant faith. He is survived by his wife, Maxine H. (Lumadue) Smeal, whom he married on April 14, 1952, and by these children: David L. Smeal. Washingtonville, Pa.; Gerald E. Smeal, Mrs. Ben (Gretta) Peters, and Mrs. Tim (Peggy) Buck, all of Sprin Valley, and Lisa A. Smeal an Eric S. Smeal, at home. Eight grandchildren also survive as do these brothers and sisters: Adeline Stine and Harold Smeal, Wallaceton; Howard Smeal Jr., Philadelphia; Wilbur Smeal, Arizona; Kathryn Sprout, Texas; Norma Vincenyo, Indiana; Viola Foster, West Decatur, and Barbara Dixon, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and a son Michael. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, The Rev. Duane White will officiate and interment will be in the Bradford Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and until the hour of services on Saturday.
