Mary and Charles ultimately would have nine children: Joseph Maxey Welch (1890-1906); Samuel Earl Welch (1892-1969); Francis Paul Welch (1895-1899); Fitzhugh Lee Welch (1898-1966); Lucile Matilda Welch (1901-1905); Edgar Warren Welch (1902-1908); Daniel Morton Welch (1906-1979); Mable Welch-Amend (1908-1999); and Ruth Irene Welch-Smith (1911-2006).
According to the Political Graveyard, Charles was a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1924.
Charles died March 21, 1927 in Ardmore, Oklahoma (Carter County) and was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Antlers, Oklahoma (Pushmataha County). Mary died May 1, 1930 in Paris, Texas (Lamar County) and was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Antlers beside her husband.
