Ellen Simmons

Ellen Simmons, daughter of Elisha and Sarah Ledford Bell, was born May 20th, 1886, in Putnam County, Missouri, and passed away May 11th, 1966, at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, Missouri at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 29 days.

She was united in marriage to John S. Simmons April 10th, 1905, in Putnam County, Missouri, and to this union 6 children were born; three daughters, Mrs. Carl Blythe, Knoxville, Iowa, Mrs. Carrol Hill, Unionville, Missouri and Mrs. Earl Van Eck of Melcher, Iowa; 3 sons, Bud, Vier and James Simmons of Unionville, who with her husband John S. Simmons, all survive.

Mrs. Simmons is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Simmons was a member of the Assembly of God Church having accepted Christ in 1927.

She spent her lifetime in Putnam County and Sullivan County, spending the last eight and one-half years in Unionville, Missouri.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her father and mother, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 14th, 1966, at the Comstock Funeral Home, at 2:00 p.m. DST, with burial in the Pherigo Cemetery in Putnam County.

The officiating ministers were Melvin and Reta Baldwin of the Unionville Assembly of God Church.
