Funeral services for Marie Marguerite Blythe, 92, of Pella, formerly of Knoxville, who died April 25, at the Pella Regional Health Care Center, were held April 28, 1998, at First Assembly of God Church in Knoxville. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

The Rev. Gary Carlson officiated at the services. Pallbearers were David Jordan, Gerald Carter, Rolfe Taylor, Paul Royer, David Spriggs, and Leonard Langstraat.

Marie was born March 7, 1906, in Putnam County, Mo., the daughter of John and Ellen Bell Simmons. She was raised in the Unionville area and attended school there.
She was united in marriage to Carl Blythe on October 22, 1927, in Cincinnati, Iowa. The couple lived in Missouri until moving to Knoxville in 1933. They lived in Knoxville for over 60 years, moving to Pella in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bud and James; and a sister, Louise.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Virginia Van Gorp of Knoxville, and Elaine Houseal of Pella; a son, Harold of Salinas, Calif.; a brother, Vier Simmons of Unionville, Mo.; a sister, Mildred Van Eck of Unionville, Mo.; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to "Light for the Lost" in care of Assembly of God Church.

Arrangements were made by Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville.
