James Simmons

James C. Simmons, 68, a resident of Unionville, Mo. Died Friday morning, September 16,1994, at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, Mo.

He was born October 20, 1925, in Putnam County, Missouri, the son of John Samuel and Ellen Bell Simmons. He was united in marriage to Mary Gillum Probasco at Lancaster, Missouri, on October 20, 1966, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James of Macon, Missouri, and Roger Probasco of Albuquerque, New Mexico, two grandsons, Jason Simmons and Jonathon Probasco, three granddaughters, Lorraine Anne Simmons, Angela Simmons and Trisha Probasco, two sisters, Marie Blythe, Pella, Iowa, Mildred Van Eck, Unionville, Missouri, one brother, Vier Simons, Unionville, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, David on March 18, 1986, one sister, Louise Hill and one brother, William "Bud" Simmons.

He was raised in Putnam County and attended the East Dodson Rural School. As a young man Jim helped his father farm. After being discharged from the service he worked several different jobs around Unionville, eventually entering into the service station and mechanic business. He operated these for, over 40 years. Jim was a veteran of WW II. On April 4, 1994, he accepted Jesus into his life.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, September 19, 1994, at the Comstock Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Griffin, Unionville, Mo., officiating. Interment will be in the Pherigo Cemetery, Southeast of Unionville, Mo. Vocalist, Walter Griffin sang, "Take My Hand Precious Lord" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken", accompanied by organist, Carla Cullor. Pallbearers were: Ernie Hoyler, Harold Medlin, Sam Neighbors, John Perkins, Bob Stottlemyre and Max Worley. Visitation was at Comstock Funeral Home Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. The service will be conducted by the Unionville Masonic Lodge #210 A.F.O.A.M.
