Mrs. Madeline E. Stroup Ahalt, 96, of Frederick, died Friday, Dec. 5, at Tranquility, Frederick.
She was the wife of the late Ernest E. Ahalt.

Born July 8, 1907 in Ellerton, she was a daughter of the late J. Ord and Annie Routzahn Stroup. [according to Madeline's birth certificate, she was born in Waynesboro, Franklin, PA]

She was a nurse at Frederick Memorial Hospital until her retirement.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown.

She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne E. Whitter and husband Marion J. III of Braddock Heights; one granddaughter, Kelly Ann Ridgway of Middletown; three brothers, Ellis H. Stroup of Middletown, James A. Stroup of Oregon, and Paul B. Stroup of Kearneysville, W.Va.

She will be remembered by friend, Mark Ridgway of Middletown.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Stroup, Lucille Hood, Lois Harrison and Rachael Davis; and brothers, Willard, G. Virgil, and G. Spangler Stroup.

Friends may call anytime Sunday, Dec. 7, at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7.

Friends may visit one hour prior to services at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. The Rev. W. Phillip Fogarty will officiate.

Interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

Bearers will be nephews, Mark Strobel, Steve, Gil and Jerry Stroup, Myron and Dawson Ahalt.

Memorial contributions may be made to the organ repair fund c/o Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main St., Middletown, Md. 21769.
