Mrs. VIRGINIA LUCILLE STROUP HOOD, 84, of 817A N. Market St., Frederick, died suddenly Thursday morning, Oct. 11, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of William Oliver Hood who died March 1990. Born Oct. 16, 1916, near Myersville, she was a daughter of the late James O. and Annie B. Routzahn Stroup.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Frederick.

Surviving are three children, Jean Haines, Frederick; William R. Hood, Cumberland; and Paul E. Hood, Sr., Walkersville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Madeline Ahalt and Naomi Hayes, both of Frederick; four brothers, Spangler Stroup, Frederick; Ellis Stroup, Middletown; Jim Stroup, Oregon; and Paul Stroup, West Virginia.

She was preceeded in death by one son, James H. Hood, in November 1974; three sisters, Lois Harrison, Rachel Davis and Evelyn Hood; and two brothers, Willard and Virgil Stroup.

Services were held at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick; interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
