Info. from FAG member Cherie Officer and Olean Evening Times, Jan. 18, 1928 Page 15. She was known in the Portville community by her friends as "Grama Fairchild". She was the fifth child of Zenas T. and Mary Ann (Wadsworth) Petty and spent the early part of her life in Belfast. On Feb. 26,1868 she married James H. Fairchild, and came to Portville about 50 years ago. Seven children, Bruce T. and Fred W., Portville, Lewis L., Randolph, NY, Robert E., Buffalo, NY, Mrs Henry Hoppe, Long Island City, NY, Mrs. Arthur J. Lytle, Angelica, NY, and Mrs. Will T. Keller of Olean, NY. James W., her youngest son died many years ago. One sister survives, Mrs. M.F. Schuknecht of Friendship, NY 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was a active faithfull member of the Portville Presbyterian Church, a Sunday School Teacher and had served as president of the Missionary Society for several years. She was also a member of the local W.C.T.U and W.R.C. of Olean, NY. Funeral was held at her home, Jan. 16, 1928.
