Harry served as a Second Lieutenant, B-29 Navigator assigned to the 60th Bombardment Squadron, 39th Bombardment Group (Very Heavy), U.S. Army Air Forces, Pacific Theater of Operations, during World War II.

He resided in Lenoir County, North Carolina and was previously a member of the North Carolina National Guard prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air (Corps) Forces on 2 May 1942. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Checker and also as Single, without dependents.

Boeing B-29A Superfortress (tail #42-94201) took off 16 Apr 1945, with a crew of 11 & 1 passenger, from Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands to North Field, Guam on a routine non-combat ferry flight. They crashed off the coast of Guam (9 miles west of Deport Field AAF) for an unknown reason and were seen to explode. There were no survivors.

Harry was declared "Missing In Action" in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash during the war.

His remains were not recovered.

Harry also has a "Cenotaph" in the Westview Cemetery, Kinston, North Carolina.
