Stewart served as a Corporal & Left Gunner on B-29 #42-94201, 60th Bomber Squadron, 39th Bomber Group, Very Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Detroit, Michigan prior to the war.

He was married however his wife's first name is unknown. She resided in Detroit.

B-29 #42-94201 took off, with a crew of 11 & 1 passenger, from Kwajalein to North Field, Guam on a routine non-combat flight. They crashed off the coast of Guam for an unknown reason and were seen to explode. There were no survivors.

Stewart was declared "Missing In Action" in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash during the war.

His remains were not recovered.
