MR. J. F. CUMBEE DIED AT FREDONIA MONDAY.
Our community was greatly shocked yesterday morning when the news came over the telephone announcing the sudden death of Mr. J. F. Cumbee, of Fredonia, He had gone to his place of business at the usual hour in the morning and had begun to attend to the duties of the day, when he was taken sick. He was able to go back to his home, but grew rapidly worse and within an hour the end had come, and before medical aid could be secured. Mr. Cumbee was in the 66th year of his age and one of the most prorninent citizens and business men of that section of the county, held in high esteem by a large circle of friends. He was a leading member of the Baptist church at Fredonia and his loss is greatly deplored. The deceased was a most devoted husband and father, a kind neighbor and a true friend.
Surviving him are the widow, four sons, Mr. Ed. Cumbee, of West Point, Ga., Mr. Matt Cumbee, ot Fredonia, Mr. John Cumbee, of Birmingham, Ala., Mr. Alf. Cumbee, of Fredonia; one daughter, Mrs. Fears Johnson, of Birmingham. These bereaved ones have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends. Mrs. Johnson only a few days ago accompanied Mr. Matt Cumbee to Baltimore, where he goes for treatment at the Johns Hopkins, and interment will be deferred until her return. Burial will take place at Fredonia tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock.
