Lester C. "Red" Hutchins, the son of Hardy B. and Josie Stevens Hutchins was born on August 4, 1912 in Griffithville, AR, and passed away at his home in Heber Springs, AR on November 17, 2000 at the age of 88 years. He was married to the late Audie Smith Hutchins, who passed away on August 1, 1995. Red was a demolition expert, having worked on such projects as the Table Rock, Bull Shoals, Norfork, Beaver, and Greers Ferry Dams, plus Missile Silos in throughout Arkansas. Red had lived in Heber Springs for 40 years, coming from Omaha, AR. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by a son; Carl Hutchins of Rose Bud, AR; four daughters, Blanche Myrick of Melbourne, Verna Huffman of Springfield, MO, Bonnie Davidson of Heber Springs and Jennie Haughaboo of Little Rock, AR; a sister, Dimple Tyree of Melbourne; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; also other relative and many friends. Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 19 at Almstead Funeral Home. Funeral service was Monday, Nov. 20 at the Olmstead Funeral Chapel, and interment was at Combs Cemetery in Melbourne, AR at 4 p.m. by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Pallbearers were Tim Myrick, Randy Huffman, Terry Davison, Ronald Huffman, Brent Haughaboo, and James L. Myrick. Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Adcock and Charley Adcock. Clergyman was A.J. Arnold.
