Lizzie - the 8th eldest of 14 siblings - married widower Walter Herbert Arlidge in Nottingham, England in 1937. She was 40 and he was 57 years old.

Prior to this Lizzie had lived in South Africa for a number of years, probably close by several of her sisters who had also emigrated from Ireland.

"Herbert" was a lace manufacturer and Lizzie a nurse. He was widowed in 1926, and had 3 sons (confirmed) and a 4th I am yet to confirm. Lizzie and Herbert traveled extensively for many years to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, likely to visit family though I am still looking into these trips to try to confirm that and get more details.

They always traveled as a couple so probably had no children together. Quite a few times they traveled first class so they likely lived quite comfortably.

Lizzie died a widow in 1959 three years after Herbert had passed. She (like Herbert) was cremated and her ashes scattered in the Garden of Rest at what was then called Wilford Hill Crematorium in Nottingham.

I have not yet located an obituary for her, but the Index of Wills and Administrations for England & Wales does mention her nephew Herbert John Wilson, Osteopathic Practitioner (her sister Mary's son)

** Lizzie is my great grand aunt **
