His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on March 3, 1941, prior to the war, from Brigham City, Utah. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a Farm Hand and also as Single, without dependents.
Robert died in the "Line Of Duty" when the "Eager Beaver", shortly after take off, crashed for an unknown reason into Cleveland Bay southeast of Townsville, Queensland, Australia during the war.
He was originally interred in Brisbane, Australia and was later repatriated here.
