Don Rhodes Forrest passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2007, from complications of pneumonia and a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born January 17, 1930 in Brigham City, Utah to Robert Wilson Forrest and Hilda Rhodes. Don earned degrees from Box Elder High and Utah State University. He served in the Korean War and retired from the Army as a Colonel. He married Cheryl Evans in the Logan LDS Temple on July 27, 1955. They had five children together. Don taught mathematics at Granger and Cottonwood High Schools for 35 years. He had many great loves: teaching, coaching, gardening, baseball, hunting, fishing and spending time with his wife and family. Survived by his wife, Cheryl; five children, Bert (Grace), Bart (Liz), Pamela (Bret) Winn, Clint (Shannon), Chad (Nicole); 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Mellor. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; twin brother, Dee; and sister, Lela. The family expresses a heartfelt thanks to the nurses, aides and staff at the Utah State Veteran's Nursing Home for the loving and compassionate care they gave Don. Funeral services will be held Tues., June 26, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Little Cottonwood 8th Ward, 6180 South 855 East, Murray, Utah. Friends and family may call Mon., June 25th from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, Murray, Utah or Tues. one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will follow services at Brigham City Cemetery at 3 p.m.
