Frank Helmer, Penn Forest, died unexpectedly yesterday morning in Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, where he had been a patient for the last week and died from a stroke at the age of 73. A native and life-long resident of Penn Forest, he was a son of the late Charles and Elvina Jane (Flickinger) Helmer. He married Sadie Florence Dotter on August 4, 1917 in East Mauch Chunk, Carbon County, PA.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Christmans, and was a retired employee of the Central Railroad of New Jersey. Surviving are his wife, the former Sadie Dotter, Hazleton; five daughters, Mrs. Irma Schlegel, Catasauqua; Mrs. Althea Beers and Mrs. Edith Butz, Allentown; Mrs. Myrtle Ross, Weissport; Mrs. June Snyder, Jim Thorpe; three sons, Albert, Jim Thorpe, and Martin and Gordon, both of Lehighton; a brother, Henry, Penn Forest; and 17 grandchildren. Nathan Melber, Jim Thorpe, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
