Martin Luther Helmer was born in Unionville, son of the late Frank and Sadie (Dotter) Helmer. He died in the Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 83. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Green) Helmer. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on December 16, 2012.
Martin worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 44 years before retiring in 1992 and previously had been employed at the former Packerton Shops. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Franklin Township.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Rodney and Dennis and two grandsons, Thomas and Tyler Helmer from Lehighton.
