Bessie Marie Harris was the youngest child of Nathan Dempsey Harris and Sarah Margaret Woody, born on August 13, 1916, in the Forney's Creek are of Fontana, Swain, North Carolina.

OBITUARY: Kingsport – Bessie M. Crovato, 98, went to her heavenly home Saturday, November 8, 2014. She was born in North Carolina, was a former resident of Erwin, TN, Washington D.C. and had lived in Kingsport for the past twenty-five years. Mrs. Crovato was a former nurse having worked at Erwin Memorial Hospital, Erwin, TN, Doctor's Hospital and Sibley Hospital, both in Washington D.C., Baptist Nursing Home and was a private duty nurse for several years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she enjoyed crocheting, bowling, fishing and driving. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.C. White, Sr.; s econd husband, of 50 years, Alfred L. Crovato; parents, Nathan Dempsey and Sarah Woody Harris daughters, Geneva White Rochleau and Charlotte White; sons, J.C. "Joe" White, Jr. and Johnathon White and nine siblings. Mrs. Crovato is survived by her children, J.D. White, Faye Howard White, Fred White, Wanda White Niven and husband Henry of Chester, MD. and Thelma Bradford White of Kingsport; seventeen grandchildren, Timmon White, Jimmy White, Harry White, Skip White, Barbara Stanslocksky, Chris White, Wanda Joy Camara, Danny Rocheleau, Aaron White, Mark White, Matthew White, Wanda Elaine White, Victoria Valton, Linda Bradford, Beth Bradford-Pytel, Andy Bradford, and Douglas Bradford and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 1- 2 pm Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Oak Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel with Bishop David Carter officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Garden of the Last Supper at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

She was also married briefly to 1st. Lonnie Edens on Feb. 26, 1932 in Bristol, TN and 2nd Joseph Christopher White on July 29, 1936 in Erwin, Unicoi Co., TN.
