Mitchell is the son of Stephen Thaddeus & Martha A. (Shaw) Buie.
He married Rowena Meares and together they had 15 children.
On Jan 19, 1922, he was named Postmaster in Elkton, Bladen Co., NC.
At some point, he worked for the railroad per U.S., Railroad Retirement Pension Index.
