Oxnard, CA: Lewis T. Ackert, Jr., 85, formerly of New Paltz, died May 22. He was born in New Paltz Aug. 14, 1901. Mr. Ackert was the former superintendent of the Ulster County Home and member and former Fire Chief of the New Paltz Fire Department. He moved to California five years ago. survivors include his wife, Marion Freer Ackert of Oxnard; two daughters: Mary Ellen DeLuca of Oxnard and Dorothy Schubb of Aurora, Colo.; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. on June 8 at Pine Funeral Home, Inc., 124 Main St., New Paltz. The Rev. Stephen Bauman will officiate.
