Mrs. Lewis T. Ackert, 91, of Wallkill, formerly of New Paltz, died Saturday in the Van Horn Nursing Home, Kingston, after a long illness. Her husband died in 1935.
The former Miss Katie Roosa, Mrs. Ackert was born in New Paltz, Sept. 13, 1869, the daughter of the late Jacob and Louise Roosa. She had been a resident of New Paltz the greater part of her life and formerly was an active member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Sullivan-Shafer American Auxiliary Post of New Paltz.
Surviving are two sons, Herman and Lewis Ackert, New Paltz; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Ronk, Wallkill; Mrs. Ralph King, Newburgh; and Mrs. Arthur Van Leuven, New Paltz; a brother, Millard Roosa, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Roosa, New Paltz and Mrs. Fanny Parker, Williamsport, Pa.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday at the Gordon D. Pine Funeral Home Inc., New Paltz. The Rev. Willet Porter officiated. Burial was in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
