Mrs. Arthur Van Leuven, 63, of 35 S. Chestnut Street, New Paltz, died Sunday at the Kingston Hospital. The former Ethel Ackert, she was born in New Paltz, October 19th, 1905, the daughter of the late Lewis and Katie (Roosa) Ackert. Mrs. Van Leuven was a member of the New Paltz United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Sullivan-Shafer Post, American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Van Leuven is survived by two sons, Francis, New Paltz, and Harold Van Leuven, serving in the U.S. Army; a brother, Lewis Ackert, New Paltz; a sister. Mrs. Margaret King, Newburgh, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Pine Funeral Home, Inc., New Paltz. The Rev. Christian Walvoord officiated. burial was in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
