Zella Ivan Fairchild was born at Barrett,
Kansas on July 22, 1891 and departed this
life at S.B.A. Hospital in Topeka, Kansas
on November 19, 1936 at the age of 45
years, 3 months and 27 days.

Zella was the daughter of Elias Rich and
Catherine Fairchild who where pioneers
of Marshall County, having spent their
entire married life in or near Barrett,
Kansas.

On March 3, 1909 she was married to
Gaylord Carpenter. To this union was
born three children; Hughie Rich, of
Frankfort, Kansas, Dorothy Gail Cull-
imore, Frankfort, Kansas, and their
young son Arthur Duane.

In 1926 she with her son Hughie became
members in the Christian Church in
Bigelow, Kansas.

Besides her husband and children, she
leaves five grandchildren, four brothers,
Roy Fairchild, St. George, Kansas, John
Fairchild, Fostoria, Kansas, Earl Fairchild,
Scott City, Kansas and Dick Fairchild,
Frankfort, Kansas; five sisters, Mrs. John T.
Lucas, Frankfort, Kansas, Mrs. Julius Ken-
Worthy, and Mrs. Owen Jones, Wheaton,
Kansas, Mrs. John D. Carpenter, Pawnee
Rock, Kansas and Mrs. O.H. Wagor, Custer
South Dakota.

Funeral services were held at the Christian
Church at 2:00 p.m.

Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery,
southwest of Frankfort, Kansas.
