Mary C. Fairchild was born at Toledo, Tama County, Iowa on January 8, 1855 and died at Barrett, Kansas on September 7, 1936. She was 81 years, 7 months and 29 days of age. At the age of six years she came with her parents to Kansas and located in Riley County on Fancy Creek. A little later they moved to a farm where Vliets stands now.

On October 15, 1871 she was married to Elias Richard Fairchild. To this union twelve children were born, two of whom died in infancy. When they were married Mr. and Mrs. Fairchild moved to a farm several miles east of Barrett, where they lived for several years, then moving to Barrett, the remained there for the rest of their lives. Mr. Fairchild preceded her in death on October 23, 1921.

Mrs. Fairchild became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church on November 22, 1914.

Ten children survive their mother, Mrs. Blanche Wagor, Custer, South Dakota, Roy Fairchild, St. George, Kansas, Mrs. June Lucas, Frankfort, Kansas, Earl Fairchild, Scott City, Kansas, Mrs. Sadie Kenworthy, Wheaton, Kansas, John Fairchild, Fostoria, Kansas, Mrs. Zella Carpenter, Bigelow, Kansas, Richard Fairchild, Frankfort, Kansas, Mrs. Mina Jones, of Wheaton, Kansas, Mrs. Melissa Carpenter, Pawnee Rock, Kansas. here are two sisters living Mrs. Ella Alexander, Guthrie, Oklahoma and Mrs. Ruth Pickett, Oakland, California; two half-sisters, Mrs. Sadie Harsnip, Oakland, California and Mrs. Belle Blesh, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and two step-brothers, Marshall Haskin, Frankfort,
Kansas and Will Haskin, Perry, Oklahoma;
55 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchild-
ren.

Funeral services were held at the Barrett
Church at 2:00 p.m.
