"Service arrangements are pending at Brennan Funeral Home for John G. Fairchild, 82, Louisville, who died Tuesday in a Topeka hospital where he was admitted April 17. He had heart and lung ailments. He was born April 27, 1889. He spent most of his life in the Wamego Community in Pottawatomie County. He had been employed by the State Highway Dept. 13 years. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church at Wamego. He was married to Mary Martin May 1,1961. She survives. Other survivors include seven sons, John (Pete) Fairchild, Raymond Fairchild, Earl Fairchild, Robert Fairchild, Delbert Fairchild, Vernard Fairchild, and Edward Fairchild, and six daughters, Marie Pearl, Hazel Wagoner, Doris White, Joann Wallace, Mary Hubbs, and Louise Stueve. Also surviving are a step-daughter, Mary Ann Franklin, a brother, Dick Fairchild, two sisters, Mina Owens, and Melissa Carpenter, and several grandchildren."
