Immigrated from Germany in the early 1880's with wife Anna Christina Meyer. They farmed in rural Strawn, but Ford Co. Illinois. They had six boys and three girls. Daughter Anna died as a small child. All the rest became farmers. The oldest sons became wheat farmers in Washington state. The others stayed in and around Ford Co. IL.
