Mrs. Henry Brandt
Anna Christina Brandt, a daughter of Mr. Peter Meyer, was born at Seedorf, Germany, on September 22, 1852. She was married to Mr. Henry Brandt of Selsingen on December 12, 1875. Nine children were born to this union, 6 sons and 3 daughters. One infant daughter preceded her in death. In 1882, Mr. and Mrs. Brandt and their three oldest children came to America. They located first near Anchor and a little later near Cropsey. After residing for shorter periods near Colfax, in Lavondale, near Cropsey and near Strawn, they rented the Gottlieb Brucker farm three miles east of Sibley, where they remained until 1903, when they moved on their own homestead. In 1912 Mr. and Mrs. Brandt retired to our village. Having enjoyed splendid health throughout her life, Mrs. Brandt's health broke down two years ago. From that time on she was a frequent sufferer from Angina Pectoris, a sudden attack of which ended her life shortly before midnight on Thursday, November 19, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 28 days. Leaving to mourn her death are her husband, Henry Brandt, six sons - Louis and Peter of Withrow, Washington; Henry of Gibson City IL; John Martin of Sibley; and William of Milford IL. Two daughters - Mrs. Wm. Stroh of Gibson City, and Mrs. Wm. Carley of Onarga, IL. Her last day of life was a mere reflex of her whole life; a life of work and service; faithful to the end. A devoted wife, a loving mother, a kind and helpful neighbor. Funeral services were held at the home, and at St. John's Lutheran Church on Sunday, November 22, at 2:00 p.m. Interment was made at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Sibley IL.
