Stockbridge – George Elmergreen passed away Wednesday at St. Agnes hospital, Fond du Lac.

He was 78 years old.
He was born at Kiel July 23, 1875. He married the former Miss Rose Wintermeyer of Manitowoc at services at Kiel.

Mr. Elmergreen was depot agent at Hayton for many years. His wife passed away at Hayton in 1921. When the Hayton station closed he moved to a farm near Black Creek, where he resided for 10 years. He married the former Frances Pease in 1923 and they moved to Stockbridge in 1940.
Mr. Elmergreen suffered a stroke seven years ago and had been confined to his home since that time. He suffered another stroke last Saturday and was removed to the hospital Monday.

Services will be at Pfeffer Funeral home, Chilton, with burial in Hillside cemetery.

Survivors are his wife; three sons, Reuben of Madison, Allen of Sheboygan and Eugene of Stockbridge; seven daughters, Mrs. Olive Madler of Hilbert, Mrs. Rosita Lee of Lowell, Mass., Mrs. Thelma Hamann of Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Myrtle Cook of Fitchburg, Mass., Mrs. Ruth D'Aregnon of Durhamville, N.Y., Mrs. Beatrice Bartholemaus of Milwaukee and Mrs. Lucille Minz of Madison.

(July 23, 1875-May 6, 1953 –husband of Rose Wintermeyer [married Dec. 22, 1896 at the Ecclesiastical Church, Town of Newton, Manitowoc County] –after the death of Rose on May 28, 1922, George re-married to Frances Pease [married in 1923] –son of August Elmegreen [1836-1917] and Friederike Dargel [1839-1902] –born at Kiel, Manitowoc County –on Jan. 27, 1911, George and Rose purchased the 2.5-acre lot with house at W1421 Highway 151 in Hayton, Calumet County –George owned this lot with house until selling on March 21, 1930 –George and Rose were station agents for the Milwaukee Road depot in Hayton –when the depot closed, George moved to Bear Creek, Outagamie County –in 1940, George and Frances moved to the City of Sheboygan) –buried at the Hillside Cemetery, Chilton County [first marriage record Manitowoc 6-390]
