AUGUST F ELMEGREEN

August F. Elmegreen, 84, a native of this county, who taught school for years in Wisconsin, died yesterday at his home in Oshkosh. He had been in failing health since the death of his wife in March 1945. Funeral services will be held at the Konrad Funeral Home, Oshkosh, with burial in the Hillside cemetery.
Mr. Elmegreen was born in 1862 in Schleswig, this county and in 1886 married Miss Augusta Luedtke at Kiel.
He was engaged as a school teacher at New Holstein, Chilton, Marinette, Thorp, Cedarburg, Stockbridge, Tigerton, Dale and Hortonville, retiring from the profession at the latter place where he terminated his teaching career as principal of the high school. He retired in 1927 and had lived in Oshkosh since that time.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jennie Winckler of Oshkosh, a grandson, Garth R. Winkler of Madison; three sisters and two brothers and a number of nieces and nephews.

He had been in failing health since the death of his wife in March, 1945. Mr. Elmegreen was born Feb. 20, 1862, at Schleswig in Manitowoc county. He was married Nov. 11, 1886 at Kiel, Wis., to Miss Augusta Luedke. He was engaged as a school teacher at New Holstein, Chilton, Marinette, Thorp, Cedarburg, Stockbridge, Tigerton, Dale and Hortonville. retiring from the profession at the latter place where he terminated his teaching career as principal of the high school. He retired in 1927 and had lived in Oshkosh since that time. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jennie Winckler, Oshkosh; a grandson, Garth R. Winckler, Madison; three sisters and two brothers, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Konrad funeral home at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. James Verduin, pastor of First Evangelical church, officiating. Interment will be at Hillside cemetery at Chilton. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon after 4 o'clock and until the time of the services.
