Well known and lifetime resident of Sevier County, Geneva Perryman Fox, 84, of Walden's Creek Community passed away Saturday, August 10, 2002 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville. Mrs Fox, with roots in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, spent her childhood in logging camps in Tremont and Elkmont.

For 30 years she wrote a weekly column for local Sevier County papers. Her column provided a glimpse of life in earlier days in the rural county, reflection on the present day and meditative thoughts on the Christian faith.

She was a lifetime member of Walden's Creek United Methodist Church and was active in women's and missionary work in the Maryville District and Holston Conference of the Methodist Church and in community projects.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Ashley and Zora Shular Perryman; granddaughter, Jennifer Barker.

Mrs. Fox is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 68 years, Marshall B. Fox of Sevierville; children, Dr. William R. Fox and wife, Mary Hester of Starkville, MS, Dr. H. Eddie Fox and wife, Mary Nell of Nashville, TN, Judy Fox Barker and husband, Dr. Bill Barker of Sevierville; grandchildren, Robert, Andrew and Gib Fox, Tim and Tom Fox, Gaye Nell Heck, Mary Christina Barker; great grandchildren, Will, Shaun, George, and Jillian Fox, Arden, Grayson, Jasmine Fox, and Will and Simon Heck; brothers, Omer, Raymond, Junior Perryman and Claude Shular; sisters Maude Williams and Katherine Flynn. Besides the immediate family members, many other relatives and friends will remember Geneva for the love that she showed so abundantly to the Lord Jesus Christ and to everyone who knew her.

Service for Mrs. Fox will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 14 at Walden's Creek United Methodist Church. She will lie-in-state from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
