MARIE - Ray Frank Breen, 71, died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at his home following a long illness.

Born Jan. 7, 1928, at Tug Creek, Summers County, he was the son of the late Michael H. "Mick" Breen and Louannie Reed Breen Ball.

Mr. Breen was of the Baptist faith and a former member of Upland Baptist Church. He held several jobs during his life, including foreman on the Penn Line Service, the Radford, Va., Powder Plant, and her retired in 1989 from CSX Corp., where he worked for 25 years as a machinist. He was a member of IAM No. 551.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Pvt. Luther E. and Mike N. Breen; two sisters, Lena Gaye Breen and Buela Breen Gill; and a half sister, Glenna Breen Bennett.

Survivors include his wife of 48 1/2 years, Janet Gilpin Breen; two daughters, Helen Breen Pack of Albany, Ky., and Donna Breen Sparks and her husband, Greg, of Ashland, Ky.; a son, Jimmy Ray Breen and his wife, Linda Meadows Breen, of Mount Airy, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Lee Pack and his wife, Cyndee, of Nashville, Tenn., Kelly Rae Pack Imes and her husband, Michael, and Sam Pack and his wife, Leah, all of Ironton, Ohio, Steve Pack of Russell, Ky., Nicholas Ray, Jaime Lynn and Jessica Richelle Breen, all of Mount Airy, and Jayme Dawn Sparks of Ashland; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Leigh Brooks-Pack of Nashville and Jonathan Christopher Imes of Ironton; three sisters, Evelene Westmoreland, Marie Breen and Ina Mae Scott, all of Blacksburg, Va.; a half sister, Goldie Breen Bennett of Madams Creek; and a brother, Bill Breen and his wife, Janice, of Tug Creek.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Mike Ballard officiating.

Burial will follow in Breen Cemetery, Tug Creek.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral parlors.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
