Please Holbert Barnes, a retired farmer of Kirkland community, died January 5 morning at Lincoln County Hospital following a long illness. He was 70 years old.

Services were conducted January 6 at Ralston Chape, with Willard Conchin officiating. Burial was in Barnes Cemetery.

Mr. Barnes was a native of Lincoln County, a member of the Church of Christ, and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lorene Pitcock Barnes; a son, George Barnes, Kirkland; three sisters, Mrs. Maude Honey, Estill Springs, Mrs. Eva Meeks, Hazel Green, Alabama, and Mrs. Mollie Catherine Flynn, Waco, Texas; five brothers, William E., John, Robert, F. A., and Claude Barnes, all of Lincoln County; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
