BARNES, John M., 99, a resident of Hedgemont Ave., Fayetteville, and a retired grocer, died Tuesday (Sept. 7, 1993) at Lincoln Care Center. A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of A. M. and Fannie Ann McDaniel Barnes and a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pannie Smith Barnes. Mr. Barnes is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Billie Ann Castile of Hazel Green, Alabama; a granddaughter, Cathy Dickens of Hazel Green, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Renegar officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
