J. N. Pendleton died at his home near Acton on December 24 after a long illness. Funeral services were held at the home on December 25 and burial was in Cox's Cemetery. He was a native of Casey County but had made his home in this county for the past 45 years and conducted a store at Acton for about 35 years. He was known and loved for generosity to the less fortunate. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Georgia Elkin Pendleton; thirteen children: Mrs. Vinnie Spurling, of Indianapolis, Ind.; Mrs. Wilbur Wyatt, Cincinnati, Ohio; both by a former marriage; Kermit Pendleton, Robert Pendleton, Mrs. Lucille Beams, Mrs. James Chelf, Louisville; Mrs. Harold Rice, this city; Mervie, Jack, James, Boyd, Kenneth Pendleton, of Acton; three sisters: Mrs. Tom Watson, Mrs. Leslie Barnes, Campbellsville; Mrs. Sam Roberts, Louisville; two brothers: Edgar and Willie Pendleton, Acton; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
