Funeral services for Walter M. Bowen, N. Columbia Avenue, were conducted at the Lyon Funeral Home Chapel Monday, March 6, at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Bowen died at the Rosary Hospital Saturday, March 4, 1967 at 1:30 a.m. after suffering a heart attack. Services were in charge of Rev. Paul Bohrer and burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Mr. Bowen, 64, operated a garage here for many years. He was a member of the Fire Department and helped organize the Taylor County Fire Department. He operated a City School Bus for several years and was also custodian of the Christian Church for some time. He was a member of the Campbellsville Christian Church where he served as a deacon. Born in Adair County, he was the son of Eva Murrah and David J. Bowen, both deceased. He was married to Mary Vivian Weatherford, November 19, 1922. She preceded him in death in June of 1962. Survivors include three children, Mrs. Arlene (F.E.) Corbin, Route 4; Miss Katherine Bowen, City; and William Max Bowen, Louisville; three grandchildren; two brothers, Arvin Bowen, Big Biear City, California; and C. L. Bowen, Route 4; six sisters, Mrs. Finis Bault, Marseilles, Ill.; Mrs. Welby Allen, Knightstown, Ind.; Mrs. Willard Humphress, Louisville; Mrs. Marie (Malcolm) Cox, Mrs. Mae (Leonard) Hunt, and Mrs. Lois Mills, all of Campbellsville. Active pallbearers were the men of the Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons from the Christian Church. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, March 9, 1967
