Leona Naomi Watkins Hurd was the daughter of William Henry Watkins and Rebecca Barnes Watkins. She was born in New Mexico in 1897 and was one of ten children. Her siblings were: Franklin, Mattie, Myrtle, William, Mae (my husband's grandmother), Maggie, Susan, Olive and Cyreena.

She had married Stephen Alfonso Hurd in Montana on September 11, 1919. Stephen was the son of Adelbert Hurd & Rosetta Gates Hurd.

Stephen died in 1949 and is buried @ Hood River, Oregon.

Leona & Stephen had 5 children: Arnold, Grace, Carol, Florence & June Rose.

Cause of death (Oregon death certificate #58): complications of child birth (infant also died).

*** Cemetery records indicate that Leona is not buried @ the Dallas Cemetery but her death certificate clearly states that she is, therefore her grave must have gone unmarked.

*** Photo is of Naomi's siblings with my husband's grandmother at the far right (Mae Watkins Rowe).
