Florine G. (Boslet) Carroll, 92, passed away peacefully Friday in Mystic, Conn.
She was born in Altoona, the youngest of 11 children to Cyrillus Romanus and Florence (Fonner) Boslet. She married Richard "Dick" Carroll on May 30, 1941.
Surviving are five children: David and wife, Laurette, of Warner, N.H., John, formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., and now of Burlington, Vt., Joan Beauchemin and husband, Dale, of Burlington, Vt., Andrew and wife, Joan (Bellenoit), of North Stonington, Conn., and Jennifer and her true companion, William Miller, of Gales Ferry, Conn.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Dana Ann, in July 1960.
She is still fondly remembered by her Altoona family, her surviving nieces and nephews, and her very best friend and school day chum, Peg McCreary, and she was always happy for news from "the gang from back home."
Florine was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Church in Groton, Conn. Known to her closest friends as "Rene," she will be remembered for her quick wit and the love of a good hearty laugh. Even though the insidious disease of dementia slowly eroded her memory and vast vocabulary, it did not touch her tenacity and sense of humor.
A funeral service will be held today, July 24, 2012, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton, Conn. Interment will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, Groton.
